About We
Founded in 1856 by Sri A. Seshayya Sastriar of Kumbakonam, the institution began as the Hindu Anglo Vernacular School in Machilipatnam and was renamed as Hindu High School in 1863. That same year, Sri Mungamuri Narasimham Pantulu became President of the Managing Committee in playing a key role in its development.
Between 1856 and 1928 many dedicated leaders contributed to the school’s growth. In 1928, it evolved into Hindu College, affiliated with Andhra University. By 1934, it became a First Grade College offering a wide range of courses and steadily growing in student strength.
Legacy of The Hindu College
For many years our students of The Hindu College consistently secured top ranks in the University. After 1940, the college experienced remarkable growth with new lecture halls, a library, labs, a well-furnished auditorium and a hostel. P.G. courses in Commerce and Economics were introduced in the 1970s, followed by M.B.A. in 1985 and M.Sc. Physics in 2005-06.
A key figure in the college’s development was Sri Daita Sreeramulu Pantulu, followed by his son Sri Daita Madhusudana Sastry, who led with vision and determination. Under his leadership, several affiliated institutions were established, including women’s colleges, an engineering college, a law college and schools.
After his passing in 2004, Sri Daita Ramachandra Sastry took over, continuing the legacy with dedication. The college has been praised by several dignitaries. The institution’s success is rooted in strong collaboration among its management, staff and students.
